The process of applying a new surface to an existing fixture such as a bathtub, tile, shower or vanity can save the consumer thousands of dollars versus replacement. The fixture is left in place and using a low pressure h.v.l.p. applicator a new copolymer surface is chemically welded to the old surface by using silane. Silane is used by the dental industry for porcelain repairs. Dallas bathtub refinishing will always use silane molecular bonding agent on all surfaces including bathtubs, tile, showers, fiberglass, cultured marble and vanities. Dallas Bathtub Refinishing Since 1992 I started Dallas bathtub services my senior year of high school in 1991 then after graduation went full time in 1992. At that time the refinishing industry was using now out dated epoxy paint and a more popular choice was aliphatic acrylic urethane paint. Neither one is rated as water proof and only water resistant but were the toughest coatings we could get during that time. These paints were a poor choice because they would yellow, become very brittle and would only last a short time with normal use. Dallas Bathtub Refinishing Long Term Solution As technology improved, which it has done in leaps and bounds over the years. Dallas bathtub refinishing started using a copolymer coating that is rated for water immersion 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! In other words it is completely water proof. However, as great as the coating is there must still be a process to bond it to the old surface. Silane is a molecular bonding agent used for dental and porcelain repair. This is such a great choice because moisture is the catalyst for silane. You can imagine why the dental industry loves the fact moisture strengthens the product. However, you may not realize why this is so important for the Dallas bathtub refinishing Industry. When a fixture is used in an environment that has temperature fluctuations condensation forms on the coating. This is why the average homeowner or D.I.Y enthusiast cannot perform the same quality, permanent refinishing as Dallas bathtub refinishing can. If you purchased each of the resins, silane and copolymer compound it would cost you hundreds of dollars more than you would pay us to professionally refinish the fixture for you! It's very important as a consumer to understand the not all refinishing is created equal. I promise you I understand the fact money is hard to come by! I know most home owners don't mind paying for quality but it's so confusing when you look at refinishing and think of it as painting. Refinishing is so much more than painting, which is why I explained about Silane molecular bonding agents and the old, outdated paints that were used in the 1990's. It's even more confusing when you understand I can show you a picture of a painted bathtub that I promise will peel within weeks of use and a picture of a quality refinished bathtub that will last for years and more than likely you could not tell the difference! The truth is even a professional could not tell the difference because we would be looking at only a small part of the refinishing process. That part would be the finished product. The important facts we would not know would be was the surface cleaned with a non- residue cleaning agent? If it was cleaned properly was the surface touched after cleaning? Because if it was than oils from the hands would be left on the surface. Was the surface etched? Etching opens the pores in the old surface and creates microscopic scratches in the old surface. In other words it gives the new surface something to bite into. Was a high quality silane molecular bonding agent used? Not all silanes are created equal. There are low quality silanes that are complete trash and the high quality silanes cost over $175/ Gallon. These are applied full strength they are not diluted. However, there is a reason why they are applied full strength because they work very well at chemically bonding the coating. Also just as important as the quality of the finish coat is the film thickness of the finish coating. If everything else is completed just right but the film thickness of the coating is too diluted then it will not last. It's simply not strong enough to withstand daily use. This is why I refinish all work myself. I know it will be completed the correct way because every refinishing job I say yes to means I am entering into that job as if I were doing this job in my personal home. Dallas bathtub refinishing brings the experience I have gained from 1992 thru today to each job I do.
